The countdown is on and football season is FINALLY upon us! Have you ever attended a tailgate and wanted something more than just Bud Light? We’ve teamed up with two of the top mixologists in O-town (you know these guys by now) – Shawn & Dustin – to teach you how to whip up THREE tailgate-ready cocktails. You will learn how to make a elevated mimosa, a gin-based cocktail made with Monkey 47 Gin plus a surprise ingredient (come to class to find out), and a Julep made with Old Scout American Whiskey. A welcome drink is also included in the ticket price. Lastly, with great drinks, comes great food! You’ll get to snack on some tailgate-worthy eats while we shake things up!

Since the age of fifteen Dustin has been in the hospitality industry. He has worked in every position in a restaurant/bar setting from dishwasher to manager and everything in between. Someone once said to him, “you don’t choose this industry, it chooses you.” Ever since he stepped foot behind a bar, he firmly believes that. Dustin started bartending in 2009 at a high-volume UCF bar to help pay for school and he never would have imagined it would have led to a career.
Fast forward ten years and he now gets to educate and train restaurant & bar staff across North Florida. He developed a passion for spirits and cocktails in 2014 when he attended a “Whiskey School” seminar. Dustin has competed in numerous cocktail competitions, winning a Jack Daniels trip in 2015, yet his greatest accomplishment was advancing to the 2018 World Class semifinals to compete against the best-of-the-best from around the nation. A month later, he was offered his current dream job, and is now able to share this knowledge and experience with anyone who is willing to listen and learn.
Hailing from Winter Park, Florida, Shawn Newman can be found behind the bar at The Robinson Cocktail Room in downtown Orlando. Since playing college baseball, Shawn has transferred his competitive attitude towards bartending and parenthood. “Growing up I played sports. Sports, sports, sports. I never found myself creative. With bartending, I am able to create a memorable experience, while providing some knowledge, and hopefully their new favorite cocktail.” While raising his 5 year old daughter, Shawn is also a World Class Bartender with more than 5 years experience and plenty of competition exposure. He has competed in Diageo’s World Class in two consecutive years, Liquor.com’s Bacardi Legacy Global Competition, Woodford’s Manhattan Experience, Heaven Hill’s Bartender of the Year, various local competitions, and most recently, winning Star of the Bar – with a chance at a National title in Chicago at the end of May. While having extensive cocktail and spirit knowledge, Shawn is always looking for something new to learn. “I have been blessed with some amazing mentors and peers. My dream is to be able to return the favor someday.”
